Are You a Healthy Planner?

Hi Reader,

Did you know that the inability to plan may not be good for your health?

And when it comes to planning, who is there to support you can make all the difference.

Let me explain.

It's hump day, Wednesday, and you’re exhausted. It’s 6 p.m., you’re hungry, and you haven’t planned anything for dinner. You head to the grocery store and go straight to the hot food counter. You ask for some fried chicken and thick cut fries, and when you find out they're on sale, you double up your order then head home.

The next day for dinner, you eat the leftovers from the night before.

Then comes Friday, and after a tough week, you decide to treat yourself by ordering a supersized pizza with extra toppings. You deserve it, right?

And let's not even mention the foods you enjoyed over your fun weekend.

Planning and your waistline

With bathing suit season fast approaching here in the northern hemisphere, these last minute food choices might not be the best for your waistline.

While the connection between the inability to plan and unhealthy eating might not be scientifically proven, it seems logical that they are linked, doesn’t it?

If you don’t plan ahead for dinner and wait until you’re extremely hungry, or ‘hangry’ as some people call it (hungry + angry), chances are you’ll just reach for whatever food is most convenient.

Plan your chicken salad

But what if you took a little time on Sunday to actually plan your dinners for the week? That way, when Wednesday rolls around, you’re not reaching for something unhealthy, but instead you’re enjoying a delicious grilled chicken salad lovingly prepared in advance.

I know what you’re thinking, there's no way you could plan that far ahead. Going to the grocery store or ordering takeout every day seems much easier.

But honestly, meal planning on Sundays isn’t that much extra work. It’s just a matter of looking ahead at your week and deciding what you’d like to make. I do it all the time. Although as a natural planner, it doesn’t feel overwhelming to me.

And when midweek hits, it’s a relief to grab a healthy, tasty meal from my fridge that requires almost no effort.

Don’t get me wrong - I do enjoy fried chicken and wedge fries, too. I just don’t want them to become my go-to dinner every week.

Get some planning help

If meal planning still feels overwhelming, there are companies that can help. As everyone may know, many businesses offer pre-portioned, healthy meals delivered right to your door. All you have to do is cook them at home in about 20 minutes with no planning required.

Professional planners know how to get things done, whether it’s meal planning or business strategy. If planning isn’t your strength, don’t worry! That’s what we’re here for.

While Projects Pivot can’t prepare your dinners for the next week, we can help you plan your business initiatives for the year ahead.
