Hi Reader,
Announcement: Projects Pivot is going away. Yes, you heard it correctly.
Just as the world is changing, so am I.
The past few years brought more change than I expected. And I’ve realized something. Sometimes the best move isn’t to push harder.
It’s to pause, pivot, and figure out how to start again.
Projects Pivot is closing by the end of this year. To be clear, this doesn’t mean I’m stepping away from managing projects. Quite the opposite, as I’m deeply involved in managing projects every day. The messy, fast-moving, with an interesting cast of characters type of projects.
Eventually, something new will take its place. When will this happen? Not quite sure yet. I do know that whatever iteration it will be, the goal will stay the same. Today’s world moves fast. Projects increasingly rely on technology, but my focus will always be on the real people behind the scenes, doing the work alongside it.
What’s next for me?
First, I’ll be switching from a weekly to a monthly newsletter. I’ll keep sharing my little project adventures, from work mishaps to volunteering and day trips, to longer trips in my trusty camper van, Mary (still a DIY work in progress).
Next, I will embrace the support around me. This break is a gift I’m giving myself but more importantly, my family and friends are encouraging me every step of the way. Being a business owner is tough, and my loved ones see me and support me.
Finally, I'm going to figure out where I fit in this space. I’m neither a content creator or influencer, and some days, I’m not even sure I qualify as a proper business owner. I’m just a geeky project manager, living it, figuring it out, and sharing the real and sometimes funny stories along the way.
I’ve been on this journey for a while and I didn’t expect how rich the experience would be. I have a stone in my garden that says “The journey is the reward.” Oh, how very true this is.
I’ve made it through 10 years in business. That feels like an accomplishment but I didn’t do it alone.
A HUGE thank you to all my clients, colleagues, and contractors who trusted me with their deliverables…and occasionally joined me for a few unofficial therapy sessions along the way.
And to YOU, oh ye faithful reader, you are the best of the best! Thanks for the love. In case you missed it, last week I sent you a gratitude love letter.
I’ve shared this news with a few of you already, and I keep hearing the same thing: you’re going to miss your Monday smile.
Rest assured, I'll be back. To me, this is meaningful work and that will never change.
Meanwhile, I’m still here! If you need me, send me a message. And come join our conversations in the Project Handlers LinkedIn group. There’s always something to talk about when it comes to project stuff.
This next version won’t build itself. And I have a feeling it’s going to be better with a little help along the way.
