Hi Reader,
I've been into superhero shows lately. Some shows feature great heroes, while others are not so great. When I was younger, I only watched what I remember as good superheroes. I grew up with icons like Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, and The Hulk (showing my age here). And for those Marvel fans out there, yes, I did consider The Hulk to be a good superhero, in an antihero kind of way.
These days, we need to choose our superheroes wisely. Especially in the business world as there are a lot of superheroes out there, both good and bad.
What's it like to be a superhero in business?
To me, a superhero is not just someone who swoops down from the sky to save the day and then vanishes. They are always available and ready to help whenever you need them. And often, these superheroes possess the power within the organization to enact change.
The best superheroes are leaders who truly listen to their staff, especially when their staff expresses a need for help with their workload. For instance, recognizing and understanding when there are insufficient resources to complete a project and offering assistance and/or guidance towards the needed next steps.
Today’s great superhero leaders
I know a lot of great superhero leaders out there - some of their names are Geoff, Marc, Christy, Simon, Jane, Albina, Christopher, Catharine, Vince, Paul, and Dave. These are leaders who have swooped in to help their staff and other leaders by offering them external help with their portfolio of projects, or perhaps training and/or mentoring for a period of time. And I know their grateful staff also sees them as superheroes.
I'm sure you have someone on your leadership team who’s a project superhero. And if you think they need a little nudge to understand their power, perhaps you can share this article with them.
Leaders - we can help you be the superhero. Are you ready to fly?
